General Information: There are over
500 different species of Aloe growing in the world.
It is also a very popular house plant. The name comes
from the Arabic alloeh, which means bitter.
Medicinal Uses: Aloe has long been
used in the kitchen to treat mild burns, where it
helps to protect the wound from infection and speed
healing. It is also frequently used internally to
treat colitis and peptic ulcers, and is claimed to
be helpful to any number of internal organs, including
the kidneys, liver and gall bladder.
