Common Name: Catnip
Botanical Name: Nepeta cataria
General Information: Catnip can
be easily grown in the garden anywhere. If you have
a cat, fence it in. Then fence that in. Then add barbed
wire, and an armed guard. Then pray. :-)
Medicinal Uses: Catnip has traditionally
been used for a number of conditions, including indigestion,
flatulence, fevers (colds and flu), sleeplessness,
nervousness, etc. You can purchase a liquid extract
made from the leaves and flowers, although fresh/dried
catnip is a nice addition to an herbal tea.
