Mimosa

Common Name: Mimosa, Silk tree

Botanical Name: Albizzia julibrissin Durazz

General Information: Grows in the southern US up to New England.

Medicinal Uses: Often referred to as the Chinese herbal Prozac, mimosa seems to be able to instill calm in an individual without some of the inherent problems that kava seems to contain. Both flowers and bark are used, although the flowers seem to be the most potent. Some ailments that it targets include anxiety, insomnia, depression and similar conditions.
