Common Name:
Mugwort
Botanical Name: Artemesia vulgaris
General Information: Mugwort is a
perennial that grows anywhere it can find full sun.
Medicinal Uses: First off, there is
a toxicity to this herb, so use carefully. Anything
over an ounce, or smaller amounts used daily over time,
can be harmful.
Now that that is out of the way, mugwort has traditionally
been used to treat a great many conditions. Internally
it has been used to combat fevers, diabetes, intestinal
worms, bronchitis, irregular menses and as an appetite
enhancer.
Externally, it can be used in baths to relieve aches
and pains, or simply added to a foot bath.
One of the best uses as far as we're concerned, however,
is its reputation as an aid to vivid dreaming. We did
some research when we were designing a dream pillow
line for YankeeScents.com
and were very impressed with the results.
