Progressive Neuromuscular Relaxation

Also known as Active Progressive Relaxation, Progressive Neuromuscular Relaxation was first realized by Dr. Edmond Jacobson in 1929. This relaxation method involves the flexing and relaxation of tensed muscle groups, a process which naturally forces the muscles to return to a relaxed position and relieves the entire body of the effects of the "fight or flight" response.
